The Philippines has been awarded the hosting rights for the 2029 FIVB Women's Volleyball World Championship, marking the country’s first time holding the prestigious women’s global event.
In a landmark decision for local women’s volleyball, the FIVB and Volleyball World have officially awarded the hosting rights of the 2029 FIVB Women’s World Championship to the Philippines.
The announcement was made by FIVB President Fabio Azevedo and Brazilian volleyball icon Leila Barros before the final match of the 2025 Men’s World Championship in Manila.
Building on the 2025 FIVB MWCH
The successful staging of the Men’s World Championship this year positioned the Philippines as a strong candidate to host future world-level volleyball events.
Awarding the women’s edition to the country just four years after the men's world championship is seen as a natural next step to sustain this momentum and showcase the Philippines once again on a global stage.
“Hosting the Volleyball Women’s World Championship 2029 in the Philippines is an opportunity to again showcase not only the very best of volleyball but also the positive impact our sport has on society,” said Azevedo.
“Volleyball is unique in its accessibility, inclusivity, and its ability to unite people from all backgrounds. That has been so profound here in the Philippines as the country hosts the Men’s World Championship in 2025, and we have no doubt it will be the same for the 2029 edition.”

PNVF’s commitment to deliver
Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) President Tats Suzara expressed pride and determination to build on lessons learned from 2025.
“We are extremely proud to be selected to host another FIVB World Championship," he said. "We have learned many things in hosting the Men’s World Championship in 2025, and we will surely do it even better for the Women’s World Championship in 2029."
"The 2025 Championship has shown that the Philippines is ready to be a long-term home for world-class volleyball. I am confident that we will once again deliver a truly spectacular Championship.”
