Lyann De Guzman reflects on the PVL players she looks up to as she continues to find her footing in the professional ranks.
Early in her PVL career, Lyann De Guzman is already clear about the kind of volleyball she wants to play.
Now finding her rhythm in the pro ranks, the No. 4 overall pick in the 2025 PVL Rookie Draft shared with One Sports the PVL stars she looks up to and the kind of game she hopes to emulate.
Among the players the De Guzman admires is Creamline superstar Alyssa Valdez, whose versatility and ability to impact the game in multiple ways continue to set the benchmark in Philippine volleyball.
She also mentioned her Nxled teammates Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, and MJ Phillips—all of whom have made such a huge difference to make the Chameleons title contenders in the ongoing All-Filipino Conference.
Rather than raw power, De Guzman said she idolizes these players because they know how to score and contribute smartly.
"Favorite ko sila the way maglaro. Hindi siya 'yung palakasan, but more on how smart you play on the court. Mapa-fast tip 'yan, bounce ball, isa lang naman ang puntos," said De Guzman.

On the defensive end, the 24-year-old spiker pointed to Creamline libero Denden Lazaro-Revilla, who is regarded as one of the league’s most dependable floor defenders.
"Alam niya lang lagi kung saan pupuwesto sa court para makuha 'yung dig or receive," she said.
Of course, De Guzman couldn’t round out her list without her best friend, AC Miner of the ZUS Coffee Thunderbelles.
"Siyempre, si AC. Of course, teammates sa Ateneo and we've been through a lot," she laughed.
