The Philippine men’s baseball team announced its intentions loud and clear in its title defense at the 2025 Southeast Asian Games, cruising to a strong 14-0 shutout of Indonesia on Saturday, December 6, at the Queen Sirikit Sports Center in Pathum Thani.

From the first pitch, the Nationals meant business as Erwin Bosito drove in Jennald Pareja in the bottom of the first inning to get the scoring started.

John Vargas followed with a clutch center-field hit, once again bringing Pareja home to double the lead.

Another run and one inning later, Mark Beronilla hammered a two-run single, bringing Bosito and Pareja home anew and giving the Philippines a comfortable 5–0 lead.

From there, the Filipino batters kept the momentum going and added nine more runs in the next five innings to cap a rousing start to their SEA Games campaign in Thailand.

The Philippines, winners of the 2019 edition on home soil, are aiming for their second consecutive and fourth overall SEA Games baseball title after the sport returned following absences in Hanoi in 2022 and Cambodia in 2023.

Only the top two teams from the round-robin eliminations advance to the gold medal match, and the Nationals will return to action tomorrow, December 7 against Singapore at 10:30 a.m. (PH time).
