Filipina tennis star Alex Eala dives headfirst into dual action at the 2025 Guangzhou Open, kicking off her singles and doubles campaigns on the same day.
Alex Eala is in for a grind.
The Filipina tennis ace is set to play two matches in one day as she continues her Asian swing at the 2025 Guangzhou Open in China.
Eala opens her campaign on Tuesday, October 21, teaming up with Ukrainian veteran Nadiia Kichenok in the women’s doubles Round of 16.
The pair faces a tough challenge against the fourth-seeded tandem of Great Britain’s Emily Appleton and China’s Qianhui Tang schedule at 10:00 a.m. (PH time).
This marks Eala’s first doubles appearance since last July’s Wimbledon Championships, where she partnered with Germany’s Eva Lys. That stint ended early after a first-round exit to Brazil’s Ingrid Martins and American Quinn Gleason.

But there will be little time to rest.
Later that afternoon, the new world no. 53 returns to kickstart her women’s singles campaign against American qualifier Claire Liu in a Round of 32 showdown set at 4:10 p.m. (PH time).

Seeded fourth in the tournament, Eala hopes to regain her winning touch after back-to-back early exits in her last two tourmanents.
Yet the task won’t come easy as Liu enters the main draw brimming with confidence after impressive qualifying wins over Linda Fruhvirtova and Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva.
