The Ateneo Blue Eagles women’s basketball team got an unexpected boost as Pasig City Mayor and Ateneo alumnus Vico Sotto joined their special training session in Loyola Heights.

Sotto, together with fellow Blue Eagle alumni Jhaz Joson, Yunika Angala, and Selina De Dios, suited up and joined the team’s drills and scrimmages in a session that doubled as both a lighthearted reunion and a show of support for the current roster.

Now off to a strong 3-0 start in UAAP Season 88, the Lady Eagles are riding high under head coach LA Mumar, who continues to build on their Final Four finish from Season 87.

Led by standout center Kacey Dela Rosa and backed by a solid mix of veterans and young talent, Ateneo looks poised for a deeper postseason run this year.

For Mumar, having his younger brother on the court was more than just a fun moment — it was personal.

The two, who grew up close alongside their mother Connie Reyes, have maintained a tight bond despite their different careers.

With alumni and family behind them, the Lady Eagles are channeling that same spirit as they aim to extend their unbeaten run in UAAP Season 88.
