From shooting to passing, Jerom Lastimosa did what he could in the final seven minutes as Magnolia attempted a reversal in its PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup duel with Meralco.
Jerom Lastimosa dropped eight of his team-best 22 points in the final seven minutes as Magnolia tried to overturn Meralco but failed, 78-76, in the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup at the Ynares Center in Montalban Sunday, Oct. 19.
Subbed in for Peter Alfaro in the last 7:06 of the match and with the Hotshots down, 55-65, he rifled in eight points, dished out a steal, hauled down an offensive board, and issued the assists in Zavier Lucero's back-to-back treys that handed Magnolia the lead at 71-72 with 42 seconds to go.
He kept the Hotshots close with his pair of freebies with 10 seconds left, 76-77.
But Bong Quinto split his freebies on a foul by Magnolia's Paul Lee, then Lastimosa botched his three-point try with just two ticks to go to hand the Bolts their third straight victory.
The Hotshots lost for the first time this conference and slid to 2-1.
