The Akari Chargers came up clutch to take down the Cignal Super Spikers in a five-set thriller in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
The Akari Chargers continue their winning run after outlasting the Cignal Super Spikers in five sets, 25-23, 20-25, 11-25, 25-23, 15-12, in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the FilOil Centre in San Juan on Saturday, February 28.
The victory gave the Chargers back-to-back wins for a 2-3 record, while the Super Spikers let go of the top spot after being dealt their second loss at 4-2.
It was a neck-and-neck battle in the fifth set, with neither team giving an inch. But Ivy Lacsina and Fifi Sharma combined to put Akari ahead 9-5.
Despite Erika Santos' efforts to mount a comeback, Eli Soyud and Grethcel Soltones closed the door on Cignal to secure the huge victory.
Sharma was hailed the Player of the Game with 16 points built on 11 attacks and five blocks.
Akari will have a one-week break before it faces the Capital1 Solar Spikers on March 7, at the same venue.
