After parting ways with Johnedel Cardel, Titan Ultra tasked Rensy Bajar with calling the shots for the Giant Risers beginning in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner's Cup.
Rensy Bajar is the new Titan Ultra coach.
Bajar is replacing Johnedel Cardel at the helm after one conference with the Giant Risers.
Bajar confirmed this development to One Sports, Thursday, February 26.
Under Cardel, the new team, formerly NorthPort Batang Pier nearly made the quarterfinals of the ongoing PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup playoffs.
With Calvin Abueva and Joshua Munzon in tow, the Giant Risers wound up with a 4-7 win-loss record in the All-Filipino conference.
Abueva, however, is now playing for Converge after a trade where the Giant Risers ended up with Rey Suerte, King Caralipio, and Mark Omega.
Though this will be his first head coaching stint in the PBA, Bajar isn't exactly lacking in experience.
The 49-year-old joined the Batang Pier as an assistant coach beginning in 2018. He remained in the coaching staff even after Titan acquired the franchise before the start of the current season.
The bench tactician also once called the shots for UP Fighting Maroons and Letran.
Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.
He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
