Lyann De Guzman is taking in all the lessons from the Petro Gazz Angels' championship core as the Nxled Chameleons transition from a rebuilding team to a PVL All-Filipino contender.
Months after being drafted by a rebuilding Nxled Chameleons squad, Lyann De Guzman suddenly finds herself part of a team now viewed as a title contender.
Following a busy offseason, De Guzman will share the court in the 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference with championship-tested veterans from the Petro Gazz Angels, including Brooke Van Sickle, Myla Pablo, MJ Phillips, and Jonah Sabete.
But even with all the additions, Nxled’s new-look roster clicked early, something De Guzman said was apparent from the start.
“It started very smooth naman. Everyone’s getting along agad,” De Guzman told One Sports. Parang lahat madali kaming nakapag-gel.”
Healthy competition among the Chameleons
The arrival of proven winners also raised the intensity in training, creating healthy competition as players fight for spots in the rotation.
“I’m very excited nung nalaman ko na papasok yung ibang Petro Gazz sa amin,” she said.

Learning from the best
For De Guzman, the biggest benefit has been the daily lessons she absorbs from the Angels’ core, learning that goes beyond raw skill.
Despite Nxled’s rising expectations, De Guzman stressed that the team remains focused on steady progress rather than long-term outcomes.
“Feel ko naman everyone still has a chance na makapunta sa Finals,” she said.
