When the confetti finally fell at the Mall of Asia Arena, Savi Davison stood in the middle of the court with her teammates, a mix of exhaustion and relief written across her face.

Just moments earlier, she delivered 23 points to help the PLDT High Speed Hitters clinch their first-ever PVL crown, outlasting the Chery Tiggo Crossovers in a five-set Finals classic, 25-17, 25-17, 19-25, 24-26, 15-8.

For Davison, the title was more than just another line on her volleyball resume—it was proof that PLDT’s long climb to the mountaintop was worth every heartbreak along the way.

“I’ve been saying this from every angle—we’re a threat,” Davison said during the championship press conference.

“In practice, in games, I cannot believe the girls that show up. I think we have some of the best athletes in our gym, and I’m just so glad to be a part of it. They make me better every day, and I just hope I can do the same.”

For a team that had often fallen short well before the Finals, Davison’s arrival marked not just a scoring boost but a renewed belief that the High Speed Hitters could finally break through.

The Fil-Canadian admitted the championship felt even more rewarding because of the struggles PLDT endured before.

“It was definitely a process. Even for me, it felt like we couldn’t catch a break before. That’s why this championship feels so much better—we had to fight for it, and we showed up when it mattered most.”

It was a sentiment echoed by the entire team as years of frustration turned into one golden moment.

But for all her heroics, Davison was quick to dismiss the narrative that the High Speed Hitters’ win was just because of her.

Aside from Davison, three other PLDT players finished in double-digit scoring in the title game, led by Finals MVP Mika Reyes with 20 points. Meanwhile, Kianna Dy and Majoy Baron had 13 each.

“PLDT was here way before I got here. I wasn’t added to turn some switch,” she said. “People ask me why PLDT, and I can’t give any other answer but this—it’s either PLDT or nothing for me.”

“I found a family here, and I couldn’t imagine doing this with any other teammates, coaches, or staff,” Davison added.
