Savi Davison powered the PLDT High Speed Hitters to a hard-fought five-set PVL on Tour semifinal victory against the Creamline Cool Smashers.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters continue to have the Creamline Cool Smashers’ number—and they have Savi Davison to thank for it.
Davison once again rose to the occasion, erupting for 34 points as PLDT outlasted the Cool Smashers in a five-set semifinal thriller, 27–25, 22–25, 19–25, 25–16, 15–10, on Tuesday, August 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
The win not only preserved the High Speed Hitters’ unblemished record in the PVL on Tour but also secured their first-ever Finals appearance since joining the league.
“It's surreal. You know, I can't wrap my head around it yet,” Davison said during the post-game press conference. “I'm proud to be a part of it all. I'm super proud of our community who supports us and loves us. So, it's just great. It's a good feeling.”

After a slow start, the Fil-Canadian winger found her rhythm when it mattered most, scoring eight of her 34 points in the decisive fifth set.
“Pressure's a privilege. I tried to perform better when there's a lot of pressure. So, like, that's just my job. I want to be in that role, so I'm just glad it transpired the way it did, and I'm glad it was in the fifth set,” she said.
For Davison, facing a champion team like Creamline always demands a fresh approach. That’s why the victory felt even sweeter because of the quality of the opponent.
The last time the Cool Smashers defeated the High Speed Hitters was back in the 2024 All-Filipino Conference.
“Every time I play Creamline, it's a different game. We can't play them in the same way that we've played them before,” Davison explained.
“This one is just a little bit more sweet because they're such hard competitors. It makes you look back at all the hard work and sacrifice and all the days that you didn't want to show up, but you did,” she added.
