The PLDT High Speed Hitters continue to get one over the Creamline Cool Smashers as they nab the franchise's first PVL Finals berth.
The PLDT High Speed Hitters remain unbeaten in the PVL on Tour after escaping the Creamline Cool Smashers in a five-set thriller, 27–25, 22–25, 19–25, 25–16, 15–10, in the knockout semifinals at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Tuesday, August 12.
This marks the High Speed Hitters’ first PVL Finals berth since joining the league.
Fighting their way back from a 2-1 set deficit, Savi Davison led PLDT to an early 4-1 lead, scoring the first three points.
However, behind the combined efforts of Alyssa Valdez and Jema Galanza, Creamline managed to pull within one at 9-10.
Despite the pressure, the High Speed Hitters showed no signs of letting up as they turned to their superstar Davison, who led a 4-0 run to reach match point.
Michele Gumabao would get one back for the Cool Smashers, but Davison would close the game out on the next play with an off-the-block hit.
Davison fired a game-high 34 points built off 30 attacks, two blocks, and two service aces. Nine of her 34 points came in the fifth set.
PLDT will face Chery Tiggo in the PVL on Tour Finals set for Sunday, August 17, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
