The Farm Fresh Foxies overcame 39 errors and leaned on Trisha Tubu’s 22-point outing to clinch their first PVL on Tour win, outlasting the Choco Mucho Flying Titans in four sets in Ilagan City.
The Farm Fresh Foxies shook off a rocky start and a night riddled with errors to pull off a gritty four-set win over the Choco Mucho Flying Titans, 23-25, 25-19, 25-23, 26-24, in the PVL on Tour at the Capital Arena in Ilagan City on Saturday.
The Foxies committed a whopping 39 errors in the match but came through when it mattered the most, especially in the fourth set, where it was the Flying Titans who faltered with a litany of costly miscues.
That shift in momentum proved crucial as Farm Fresh took a 13-9 lead and continued to hold on for most of the match, having an answer for every Choco Mucho rally down the stretch.
Des Cheng, however, came alive late to to power a final push for the Flying Titans, scoring four straight points, before Deanna Wong’s kill block pushed them ahead 23-22.
Rizza Cruz would come right back to tie the game, before Caitlin Viray dragged the Foxies to match point. Choco Mucho rookie Jen Villegas would issue a response though, forcing an extended set.
Tied at 24-all, Viray powered Farm Fresh once more to match point, before Trisha Tubu sealed the hard-fought win with a kill block on Mean Mendrez.
Trisha Tubu led the charge with 22 points off 16 attacks, three blocks, and three service aces, steering the young squad to its first win in the preseason tilt under Italian coach Alessandro Lodi.
The Foxies are now 1-1 in Pool A, while the Flying Titans dropped to 1-3 for fifth place.
Farm Fresh returns to action Sunday, July 13, against the Petro Gazz Angels to cap off its back-to-back schedule in the Ilagan City leg.
