It didn’t look like it, but Savi Davison admitted that she felt the nerves facing a full-strength Creamline squad in their 2026 PVL All-Filipino Conference opener.

But that didn’t matter as Davison finished with a triple-double of 26 points, 10 excellent digs, and 11 excellent receptions, leading the PLDT High Speed Hitters past the Creamline Cool Smashers, 25-22, 25-17, 25-23, at the FilOil Centre in San Juan on Thursday, Feb. 5.

Despite the fast start, Davison said the approach heading into the match was focused on keeping her adrenaline intact against a jam-packed arena.

“I’ve been working a lot on patience and waiting all week,” Davison said during the post-game press conference. “Not trying to come out too strong because Creamline and their fans can make it a really hard environment to play in.”

“I’m just glad that we were able to keep calm and stick to our 80% throughout the match.”

Going up against a complete Creamline team

It was the first time that Davison faced a full-strength Creamline squad since joining the PLDT in October 2023.

“You know what, they were pretty intimidating when they came out. I'm not going to lie, all of them were complete,” Davison admitted.

“Seeing them all together and seeing how individually they're strong athletes, it can be a little intimidating when you're watching them line up.”

Making the matchup more intriguing was the Fil-Candian’s first duel with the Cool Smashers, led once more by returning setter Jia De Guzman.

After the match, Davison had nothing but praise for the Alas Pilipinas team captain.

“I mean, her hands are really hard to read. I'm not going to lie. I thought I could swing either way. But that coming out, the whole lineup together, I don't think I've seen that since the first year I was here.

Despite the marquee victory, Davison stressed that PLDT’s focus remains grounded ahead of a long All-Filipino campaign.

“I'm just happy that we were able to win tonight. We try to do this every game coming forward. I don't want to take it to our head, but it's one game at a time,” she said.

The High Speed Hitters look to build on their strong start when they face the Capital1 Solar Spikers on Thursday, Feb. 12, at the same venue.
