TNT coach Chot Reyes hopes that RR Pogoy will be ready when the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup Finals gets going.

Pogoy suffered a hamstring injury early in Game 4 of the best-of-seven series against Meralco last Sunday, Jan. 11.

After starring for the team in Game 3, Pogoy exited just a minute into his appearance in the Tropang 5G's eventual 102-83 win in Game 4 over Meralco.

Due to the injury, Pogoy was forced to sit out TNT's epic Finals-clinching 99-96 victory in Game 5 Wednesday, Jan. 14.

Whether or not Pogoy can suit up for the Tropang 5G in the Last Dance against either San Miguel or Ginebra hinges on his recovery.

“Hopefully, [he can play]. But you know how it is — pulled hamstring, that’s very unpredictable. It really is going to depend on how quickly he can heal,” Reyes said.

But as much as the squad needs Pogoy to be at his best to claim the All-Filipino title, Reyes said they are not rushing the Cebuano hotshot's return.

“One thing that is for sure is we’re not going to rush him back. We’re going to play him when he’s ready,” Reyes said.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
