Just a little over a minute into his first appearance in Game 4 of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinals Sunday, Jan. 11, RR Pogoy suffered what was initially suspected as a hamstring injury.
RR Pogoy suffered a hamstring injury in Game 4 of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinal series between TNT and Meralco Sunday, Jan. 11.
Pogoy exited the match in the 3:08 mark of the opening quarter after sustaining the Grade 1 injury, which could sideline him for two weeks.
“May pumitik, na-feel ko. Ito yata 'yong injury ko rin last year," said Pogoy after the match at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay.

"Last game pa lang na-feel ko na pero ngayon bumigay. Pero Grade 1 lang naman. May strain lang na kaunti.”
Fortunately for Pogoy and the Tropang 5G, Poy Erram stepped up and dropped 21 of his 27 points in the first half to spark the squad's 102-83 romp over Meralco.
TNT thus moved on the cusp of a return trip to the All-Filipino conference Finals.
Meralco also missed the services of its star in Chris Newsome, who suffered an MCL sprain in Game 3.

Pogoy said he will be out when TNT tries to finish off the Bolts in Game 5 set Wednesday, Jan. 14.
“Malabo. Hindi kaya,” Pogoy said.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
