Alas Pilipinas Women, led by captain Jia De Guzman and head coach Jorge De Brito, joined a special LRT-2 ride to rally fan support for the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship in Manila this September.
Following their success in recent international competitions, Alas Pilipinas Women are turning their attention to the men’s side, rallying support for the FIVB 2025 Men’s World Championship.
On Tuesday, August 12, team captain Jia De Guzman led members of Alas Women, which included Dawn Catindig, Alleiah Malaluan, and Vanie Gandler, as they took a special LRT-2 promotional ride from Recto to Santolan.
The campaign, joined by Local Organizing Committee officials, aims to build anticipation for the historic event that will see 32 of the world’s best men’s teams compete in Manila.
“We’re very happy that the men’s volleyball and Philippine volleyball in general is getting a lot of support because volleyball wouldn’t be as big as it is now if it weren’t for the fans,” said De Guzman.
“We’re glad that it’s reaching better heights, more people. Kahit sa LRT, malaking bagay na they’re helping us promote this big event coming to the Philippines.”

Alas Women are coming off back-to-back bronze medal finishes in the 2025 SEA V.League, this is on top of a historic silver medal from the AVC Nations Cup.
With the attention now shifting towards Alas Men, head coach Jorge De Brito said they have been counting down to this moment for more than a year.
“It’s amazing because we’ve been waiting for this for the last year when they launched the tournament for the World Championship. Everybody knew it was going to be a big party and you support all the teams,” he said.
“We are very excited, even the women’s team wants to support the men’s team, so it’s going to be a big event here.”

The Brazilian tactician also called the tournament a rare opportunity for Filipino volleyball fans.
“You’re gonna support our team, you’re gonna receive for the first live 32 teams. It’s going to be an amazing chance that no one can miss to watch these games here. I think it’s the best time you can look up all of them at the same time. It’s going to be amazing, all the games.”
