The Light Rail Transit Authority (LRTA) has joined the growing list of partners supporting the Philippines’ hosting of the 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, launching a vibrant campaign to drum up awareness across Metro Manila’s bustling rail system.

On Tuesday, July 16, the LRTA kicked off its promotional efforts with a festive train ride from Recto Station to the LRT-2 depot in Santolan, Pasig City, showcasing a fully wrapped train and interior displays featuring the global volleyball spectacle.

The campaign is set to reach thousands of commuters daily along Line 2.

“Starting today, people using Line 2 will see promotional materials for the FIVB MWCH inside and outside of the trains,” said LRTA Administrator Atty. Hernando Cabrera. “We have specifically designed one train with full wrap branding and onboard displays. It’s one of a kind for a very, very special occasion.”

The rollout was attended by Philippine Sports Commission chairman Patrick Gregorio and Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) and Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) president Ramon “Tats” Suzara, along with star athletes Marck Espejo, Bryan Bagunas, and Sisi Rondina.

“This partnership will effectively and intensively promote this major global event,” said Suzara, as he also acknowledged the presence of the Philippine fan club of K-pop group BOYNEXTDOOR, who will perform during the opening ceremony on September 12 at the SM Mall of Asia Arena after the Philippines faces Tunisia.

Gregorio, who heads the government task force for the event, emphasized the championship’s impact beyond the sport.

“This is a beautiful example of sports tourism. The biggest tourism events in the world are sports events,” he said.

The 2025 FIVB Volleyball Men’s World Championship, set from September 12 to 28 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum and MOA Arena, will feature 32 nations. Tickets are now available at www.philippineswch2025.com.
