The stage is set for a crucial stretch of international competition as both the men’s and women’s squads of Alas Pilipinas prepare to represent the country in the upcoming Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Nations Cup tournaments this June.

Alas Men are slated to compete in the AVC Men’s Nations Cup from June 17 to 24 in Manama, Bahrain, where they were drawn into Pool B alongside Qatar, Vietnam, Australia, and Kazakhstan.

The tournament serves as a key qualifier for the 2026 Asian Volleyball Championship and is part of the Philippines' buildup toward hosting the 2025 FIVB Men’s World Championship from September 12 to 28.

The Nations Cup assignments come on the heels of the AVC Board of Administration Meeting held in Manila, where the official groupings were drawn. AVC and PNVF President Ramon “Tats” Suzara expressed confidence in the regional competitions and the growing visibility of Asian volleyball.

“It was a remarkable draw, and we’re incredibly proud to see both our men’s and women’s squads stepping into meaningful international battles,” said Suzara. “This is a pivotal time for Philippine volleyball, especially with the World Championship on the horizon.”

Alas Men will also take part in the Alas Pilipinas Invitationals from June 10 to 12 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum, hosting top-tier international teams in a home-court showcase that bridges local support with global preparation.

In addition to the senior squads, the Philippines is also fielding a team for the AVC Women’s Under-16 Championship in Amman, Jordan this July 20 to 27, further emphasizing the country’s commitment to developing volleyball at all levels.

Prominent AVC officials in attendance included past president Rita Subowo (Indonesia), secretary-general Hugh Graham (Cook Islands), and executive vice presidents from Maldives, China, Indonesia, and Qatar, among others.

The Philippine delegation was represented by PNVF vice president Ricky Palou and secretary-general Donaldo Caringal.
