The many hats of La Salle's Ben Phillips

The many hats of La Salle
UAAP

De La Salle Green Archers forward Ben Phillips is known for his bottomless energy and terrific athleticism on the basketball court. When the men’s volleyball tournament makes its UAAP return in Season 85 later this month, expect the tireless 6-foot-5 big to showcase the same traits once he suits up for the De La Salle Green Spikers.

On his Twitter, the 23-year-old business administration grad student asked for the La Sallian community’s support as he takes on a new challenge.

At first glance, you might wonder how the oldest (23) of the Phillips brothers is able to juggle his time, being a two-sport student-athlete. Well, if you’d look closer at his track record, multi-tasking is no problem at all for Kuya Ben. Back in the States, he was already a basketball and volleyball high school varsity player. When he graduated, he focused on his studies at Miami University’s Farmer School of Business through an academic scholarship program.

To top it all off, he authored and published a book called "Lone Wolf Mentality: A Millennial Mindset" during his second year in college. On Ben Phillips’ YouTube channel, there’s a video, presenting him in his full form as a writer, student, and businessman.

La Salle recruited Ben and his younger sibling Mike back in 2020. They were supposed to play for the Green Archers in Season 83 but the COVID-19 pandemic happened. All in all, Ben has four years of eligibility to play basketball and volleyball in the UAAP. Count on him to keep on bringing his trademark intensity to both courts soon. The question now is: which De La Salle team will he be more successful with?

A few highlights of his volleyball skills might help you answer that question. Here’s a tweet featuring Ben Phillips as a high-flying spiker.
