Jhanlo Sangiao (7-1) successfully returned to the ONE Circle after almost two years of absence with a submission victory against Shinechagtga Zoltsetseg for a bounce back victory in ONE Fight Night 33 in Bangkok.

After suffering the first loss of his professional career back in August 2023, Sangiao took a lengthy break from the Singapore promotion where his father, Mark Sangiao, leads one of the famed Filipino stables Team Lakay.

Also representing the Team Lakay banner, Sangiao took his win to an electrifying level when he caught his foe in a rear-naked choke late in the third round.

Having been looking for a chance to finish off his opponent after trading blows in the first two rounds, Sangiao’s patience paid off when Zoltsetseg put his guard down on his back.

When Sangiao got a hold of the Mongolia’s neck, the 23-year-old was determined not to give way.

With less than 20 seconds left before the bell, Sangiao was able to tap Zoltsetseg out in the third round to hand himself his sixth submission win overall.

None of Sangiao’s matches have gone the distance, with his five ONE fights ending in submission. Even his loss against Enkh-Orgil Baatarkhuu in his previous fight was a submission via kimura during the second round.

After training in the midst of ONE World Champions during his career, Sangiao is among the new faces of Philippine MMA who is looking to raise the banner high in the Singapore promotion.
