CJay Perez opened up about his basketball journey, PBA inspirations, and personal routines in a fan-led Reddit AMA hosted by One Sports.
From his NBA idol to his toughest PBA rival, San Miguel Beermen star CJay Perez fielded fan questions during a fun and revealing Reddit Ask Me Anything (AMA) on r/PBA hosted by One Sports.
Perez opened up about his early days in Pangasinan, how he maintains his trademark energy, and the lessons he’s learned throughout his career. He even shared what his life might’ve looked like had he not pursued basketball.

Question: Who's your favorite player in the NBA and why?
CJay: Si Lebron kasi yung playing year niya sobrang tagal na. Gusto kong matutunan kung paano niya inaalagaan yung katawan niya at pagtulong niya sa community.
Question: Ano conditioning mo para laging hyper sa loob ng court?
CJay: Pahinga lang tapos dapat consistent mag-weights, alaga lang sa katawan at tulog. Sobrang importante ng tulog para mataas lagi ang energy.
Question: Anong sekreto mo nung laro niyo vs Georgia. Ang sipag mo nun lalo na sa 4th quarter haha
CJay: May mga games na wala akong masyadong minutes pero naka-contribute ako. Always ready lang dapat kapag tinawag tayo na maglaro.
Question: Do you still remember us way back when you are still a student of PUNP?
CJay: Sa PUNP ako unang nag-varsity. Dun din ako nakakuha ng scholarship at hindi na iniisip na ng nanay ko yung gastusin sa school.
Question: If you weren’t playing basketball, what would your dream career be?
CJay: Ang course ko dati sa Pangasinan, criminology. Siguro baka nag-pulis ako.
Question: Sinong idol mo na player sa PBA growing up? Name at least three.
CJay: Calvin Abueva, Jayson Castro, Gabe Norwood
Question: Araneta, MOA, PhilSports, Ynares (Antipolo & Montalban), & arenas near DLSU (Ninoy Aquino Stadium - at the back of the Main Campus; Rizal Memorial Coliseum - nearby the Collage of Saint Benilde). CJ, of all the stadiums that I have mentioned, which of those is the arena that you love playing the most, & why? Good luck on the finals!
CJay: Sa MOA kasi since nung college ako, pinangarap kong maglaro dun. Wala kasing chance na makapaglaro nun since noong Baste days, hindi kami nakaabot ng Final Four.
Question: How do you maintain composure in-game time scenarios. I find it hard to focus and tend to get influenced by my emotions. Always end up in me being confused and rattled which will ultimately affect my overall game.
CJay: Kailangan naka-focus lang sa now o kung sa ano yung nangyayari ngayon. Kunwari, bad call ng ref. Instead na mag-focus dun, control what you can control and how to win the game by giving it their all effort.
Question: CJ, who’s your favorite rival in PBA?
CJay: Si [Robert] Bolick. Since college kami 'yung nagkakaharap na.
