Far Eastern University stumbled in the third but got the job done from there as it downed also-ran University of the East, 25-19, 25-15, 22-25, 25-16, to stay in the hunt for a twice-to-beat edge in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Wednesday, April 17.

Fresh off their impressive five-set victory against the University of Santo Tomas last Saturday, April 14, the Lady Tamaraws handily took the first two sets before being waylaid by the Lady Warriors, who unleashed a strong finishing kick in the third.

Determined to avoid the same blunder in the fourth set, the Lady Tamaraws pulled away from a slim 13-11 lead behind Chenie Tagaod and Faida Bakanke before Tin Ubaldo sealed it on a one-two play.

FEU improved to an 8-4 record to stay at fourth while UE absorbed its tenth loss in 12 outings.

Tagaod led the Lady Tamaraws with 21 points built on 19 attacks, a block and an ace. Gerzel Petallo contributed 14 markers while Bakanke added 10.

Dongallo, who fueled the Lady Warriors' 6-0 closing tear in the third set, collected 17 points while Rizza Nogales chipped in 10.

Team captain and setter Kizzie Madriaga produced 11 excellent sets for UE before exiting at the tailend of the match due to an ankle injury.
