Creamline head coach Sherwin Meneses admitted there was a tinge of disappointment after the Cool Smashers fell short of reaching the PVL on Tour Finals.

The Cool Smashers came up short against the unbeaten PLDT High Speed Hitters, falling in five sets, 25–27, 25–22, 25–19, 16–25, 10–15, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao on Tuesday, August 12.

Despite the tough semifinal exit, Meneses was quick to acknowledge the deserving run of the High Speed Hitters.

“So, congrats talaga sa PLDT. Maganda ‘yung team nila ngayon, so good luck sa Finals against Chery [Tiggo].”

It wasn't the best of runs for the Cool Smashers in the PVL on Tour.

Finishing with a 3-2 record in Pool B, Creamline was dealt its first back-to-back defeats since 2018.

For Meneses, the biggest takeaway from the league’s touring leg was the importance of ample preparation.

“I think 'yung lesson dito, talagang preparation dapat cool pero no excuses naman. Sana next time, maging mahaba pa ‘yung preparation namin hanggang makuha namin ‘yung peak ng Creamline,” he said.

The multi-titled tactician also emphasized the need for his squad to ramp up their training to keep up with an increasingly competitive field.

With their campaign in the Invitational Conference up next, the Cool Smashers aim to refine their game and defend their crown against five other squads.
