Jasmine Nabor reflects on how Chery Tiggo’s PVL on Tour Finals-bound roster sets itself apart from the team’s 2021 championship squad.
A lot has changed since the Chery Tiggo Crossovers’ last PVL Finals appearance in 2021.
But after three years, the Crossovers are back on the championship stage after punching their ticket with a gritty four-set win over the Cignal HD Spikers, 25–17, 16–25, 25–21, 25–23, in the PVL on Tour semifinals on Tuesday, August 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
A constant in both Finals run is veteran setter Jasmine Nabor, who tallied 21 excellent sets in the semifinals victory.
“Sabi ko nga po sa mga natirang Chery na nag-champion dati, sabi ko talaga, 'sa wakas.' Kasi sobrang tagal din talaga naming inantay tsaka pinagtrabahuan na makatuntong ulit dito,” Nabor said during the post-game press conference.
One of just three holdovers from the 2021 title team, alongside Shaya Adorador and the injured Mylene Paat, the 27-year-old setter sees a key difference in this current squad.
“Masasabi ko po siguro, lahat kami pantay-pantay. Walang senior, walang rookie, lahat sumusunod. Kahit bata man yung magsalita sa amin, lahat nakikinig,” Nabor explained.
“Sobrang open kami sa lahat ng sinasabi, especially siyempre kung sino man ‘yung nasa loob ng court, sobrang tiwala kami sa naglalaro,” she added.
In the PVL on Tour, Chery Tiggo has seen major strides under coach Norman Miguel, with a mix of veterans and rising stars leading the way.

But the work isn’t over yet for Nabor and the Crossovers as they set their sights on the PVL on Tour Finals this Sunday, August 17, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
“Ayun, mag-eenjoy kami ngayon tapos trabaho ulit bukas para sa Sunday,” she said.
