The Chery Tiggo Crossovers clinched their first PVL Finals berth since 2021 after outlasting the Cignal HD Spikers in a four-set semifinal battle.
The Chery Tiggo Crossovers are headed to the PVL on Tour Finals after dispatching the Cignal HD Spikers once again, this time in the semifinals, 25–17, 16–25, 25–21, 25–23, on Tuesday, August 12, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum in Cubao.
It will be Chery Tiggo’s first Finals appearance since ruling the 2021 Open Conference, the league’s inaugural pro tournament.
After dropping the second set, the Crossovers dug deep and banked on the steady firepower of Ara Galang, Cess Robles, and rookie standout Renee Peñafiel to regain control and secure the semis victory.
Chery Tiggo opened the fourth frame with a 6-2 start, where they would go on to extend that lead further by as many as six points at 16-10 after Robles’ off-the-block hit.
The HD Spikers, however, would not go away that easily after moving to within a single point at 22-23.
But the Crossovers turned to Imee Hernadez to put them at match point before Galang eventually sealed the win with a cross-court kill.
Galang nabbed the Player of the Game honors with 15 points off 14 attacks and one block.
Chery Tiggo will now await the winner between the Creamline-PLDT semifinal match.
The PVL on Tour Finals will be held on Sunday, August 17 at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
