PLDT star spiker Savi Davison is back in the fold with the High Speed Hitters for the PVL on Tour after spending some time off in Canada.
Fil-Canadian hitter Savi Davison plunged back into action with the PLDT High Speed HItters during the PVL on Tour Cebu leg, where the team completed a 5-0 sweep of the preliminary round and are headed to the quarterfinals.
Davison came back to a PLDT squad that sported a 3-0 record before the 26-year-old rejoined them in training and in their two games in Cebu City.
The weeks-long time off in Canada provided Savi the opportunity to reconnect with family, especially since she is now based in the Philippines because of her professional volleyball career.
“A lot of people kept saying [I took a] vacation, and it wasn’t. I worked out and stuff. It was moreso just my family, they support me from so far away so it feels nice for me to come back [home] and give the love back and just kinda see them and catch up,” Davison said on the sidelines of the University of San Jose-Recoletos Coliseum on Sunday.
Though seeing limited minutes, Davison proved to be as lethal as she was earlier this year when she provided clutch points in PLDT’s games against Nxled and Galeries Tower — both of which came via sweeps.

PLDT had to do plenty of adjustments with Davison's absence, as well as some other players unavailable due to national team duties. Now that the Fil-Canadian spiker is back, it’s a little bit different for the High Speed Hitters once again.
Having been with the team for a long time, Davison believes that it’s just a matter of time before she gets right back into step with the rest of the High Speed Hitters.
“I’ve been with the team for two and a half years. So coming back feels like I’ve been here the whole time. It was obviously nice to go back home and see my family a little bit, but now that I’m back, well this is family too so I’m just grateful that they let me do that and I’m happy that I’m back,” she said.
Asked about Kiesha Bedonia and Jovielyn Prado, who have taken part of the scoring burden during Davison’s absence, the Fil-Canadian said that the two have always been capable.
But with circumstances calling for a bigger role for both of them, PLDT is able to rely on them.
“I wouldn’t say [they] filled in, I would say more just like they did everything that they’ve been doing. I’m glad they had the chance and opportunity and I’m glad that they finished it out,” said Davison.
“They’re two really strong players, they give me a hard time in practice so I wasn’t surprised that they showed up and put up points. Their defense, service, they’re completely capable of handling everything on their own. I’m just proud of them, always.” she added.
Now, Davison will have more time to continue reintegrating back into PLDT’s system as the High Speed Hitters play the waiting game for their next opponent.
Quarters-bound PLDT will await the winners of the knockout play-in phase beginning this weekend.
