France Ronquillo and the Galeries Tower Highrisers dealt the Farm Fresh Foxies their fifth consecutive loss, making it three wins in what has been a breakthrough 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference.
Reeling from a two-game slide, Galeries Tower regained its winning ways after taking down Farm Fresh in straight sets, 25-18, 25-23, 25-16, to secure a franchise-best third win in the 2024 PVL All-Filipino Conference at the PhilSports Arena Saturday.
France Ronquillo poured a career-high 20 points built on 16 attacks, three aces and a block, allowing the also-ran Highrisers to climb to solo ninth place with a 3-6 slate, easily their best record in their young team history. She also collected five digs and five receptions.
Galeries Tower was down 15-16 in the opening set when Ronquillo delivered back-to-back aces that instigated a 10-2 rally for an early buffer.
Both teams then figured in a nip-and-tuck affair in the second frame before Andrea Marzan, Roma Joy Doromal, and Julia Ipac shattered a 20-all deadlock that pushed the Highrisers
It was all Galeries Tower in the decisive third, as Ronquillo nailed the last two blows to seal the deal.
Doromal pitched in 10 points, while Ipac and Paran contributed eight markers apiece.
The Foxies, who suffered their fifth consecutive loss, slid to 10th place with a 2-7.
No one from the losing side scored in double figures as Chinnie Arroyo and Trisha Tubu had eight each.
Galeries Tower tries to string up another win streak when it attempts to upend contender Petro Gazz on April 20, Saturday, at the Sta. Rosa Sports Complex.
Farm Fresh, on the other hand, seeks to snap out of its funk when it faces winless Strong Group Athletics on April 18, Thursday, at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
