Arlan Arbios and Maricar Camacho were hailed the fastest in the 32K category as part of the 12,000-strong Leg 3 of the Trilogy Run Asia on Sunday at SM Mall of Asia Complex.

Arbios clocked in at one hour, 52 minutes, and 28 seconds to pace the men’s division, almost two minutes faster than runner-up Edsel Moral (1:54:35) and third placer Mark Anthony Oximar (2:09:46).

The national athlete, who started his love for running at an early age in his South Cotabato hometown, is going full-steam in his preparation for the Southeast Asian Games later this year.

"Para na po sa bayan, kasi lumalaban sa ibang bansa," Arbios said when asked about what he was running for. "'Yun po, maiangat sa SEA Games yung bandera ng Pilipinas."

Camacho, on the other hand, timed at two hours, 21 minutes, and 29 seconds, ahead of Eloisa Cusi (2:22:59) and April Rose Diaz (2:26:06).

There will be more third legs for the Sante Barley Trilogy Run Asia, organized by RUNRIO, to be held in Cebu, Iloilo, Cagayan de Oro, and Davao before the National Finals on November 9.

In the 12,000-strong field in Leg 3 offering 32K, 21K, 10K, and 5K races, the biggest contingent was for the 10K with 4,500 runners.

We want them to have an active and healthy lifestyle," said Sante Barley CEO Joey Marcelo, who ran a 32K race himself.

"For me, it's about model behavior and we want to inspire people."
