The Akari Chargers finish with a 2-3 record in Pool B after sweeping the Capital1 Solar Spikers in the PVL on Tour.
The Akari Chargers flexed their muscle against the Capital1 Solar Spikers with a commanding straight sets victory, 25-23, 25-18, 25-23, in the PVL on Tour at the Playtime FilOil Arena in San Juan Tuesday, July 15.
The Chargers ended their Pool B campaign with a 2-3 record, while the Solar Spikers finished at 0-5. Both teams will still enter the knockout round of the preseason tilt.
Despite trailing by as many as nine points at 12-21, Akari came roaring back with a 10-1 run to tie the game at 22-all.
KC Galdones would put the Solar Spikers ahead once more, but the Chargers would take over once more, scoring three straight points, capped off by an attack error by Capital1, to seal the win.
Ezra Madrigal was hailed the Player of the Game with 11 points built off eight attacks and three blocks.
Akari is still without Faith Nisperos, Alas Pilipinas’ Fifi Sharma, Justine Jazareno, and newly-acquired setter Mars Alba.
Meanwhile, Capital1 was without Bella Belen, Leila Cruz, Jorelle Singh, and Jerrili Malabanan.
