Troy Rosario found himself unable to contribute as much as he normally does in Ginebra’s 88-101 loss to San Miguel in Game 6 of the PBA Season 50 Philippine Cup semifinals last Friday, Jan. 16.

That's because Rosario was nursing a quad tear he suffered in Game 5 of the best-of-seven series.

“Napaka-unfortunate na Game 5 pa nangyari. Tapos Game 6 closer pa,” said Rosario as the Gin Kings got the boot in the All-Filipino conference.

Rosario underwent MRI twice, because the first result turned out to be ambiguous.

The 6-foot-6 forward said he only learned about the tear when he was already at the Smart Araneta Coliseum for Game 6.

"Actually, [the night before the game] pa ako medyo [worried] sa injury. Kasi nag-MRI ako then after, medyo naging malabo 'yong film so hindi nakita 'yong injury," Rosario said.

"Hindi sure kung nasaan 'yong punit. eh. Noong nandito na ako sa venue, doon nalamang may punit 'yong quad,” he added.

It was obvious he was reeling from the said injury as he did not make much of an impact, only seeing action for nearly 10 minutes where he just produced three points, two assists and a steal.

“Ayaw ko namang maging liability sa laro. Kitang-kita sa laro na medyo nag-aalangan ako sa mga tapak ko, sa mga talon lo.”

Now, Rosario will enjoy a significant time to rest and recover from before hitting the ground running anew in the Commissioner’s Cup.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
