Stanley Pringle conveniently landed on Rain or Shine’s lap during the PBA's offseason.

Elasto Painters head coach Yeng Guiao bared that it was Pringle’s camp who approached the team, and they refused to let the golden opportunity to sign him slip.

“Of course, interested kami sa kaniya, and I think he knows that. We never really formally approached him. Ang nag-initiate ng usapan, 'yong ahente niya,” said Guiao of Pringle, who already joined RoS in practice.

Everything went smoothly from there, added the outspoken mentor.

“Sino ba naman ang ayaw na maging player si Stanley? Ang pleasant surprise doon ay hindi kami nahirapan sa pag-uusap,” Guiao said.

Stanley Pringle, the difference-maker

Guiao’s desire to sign Pringle even at 38 years old is understandable.

Pringle is a four-time champion with Ginebra, where he also won the Best Player of the Conference award.

Apart from that, it also helped that he once played for Guiao in Gilas Pilipinas’ Asian Games campaign in 2018.

In the previous conference, Pringle averaged 13.18 points, 3.82 rebounds, 2.82 assists and 1.09 steals.

Safe to say, the seasoned Fil-American cager, who has a knack for creating shots for himself especially in the clutch, still has a lot left in the tank.

Guiao is expecting nothing less from him as his squad aims to finally reach the finals after making the semis four times in a row.

“Of course (he’s a difference maker). Ang tingin ko kasi, 'yong wala kaming immediate impact, kung sa draft namin aasahan. Pero 'yong pagpasok ni Stanley, 'yon ang may impact samin,” Guiao said during the Draft Combine.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
