The Barangay Ginebra San Miguel star was the recipient of the Mr. Basketball Award from the PSA.
Barangay Ginebra San Miguel star Scottie Thompson never backs down from any challenge, be it in the PBA or FIBA with Gilas Pilipinas.
Heck, the reigning PBA MVP will even go up against bigger imports in the league for a layup or an empathic rebound.
But there’s one thing that sends shivers down his spine.
“Asawa,” said Thompson in jest, when asked by News5’s Martie Bautista during the PSA Awards on Monday.
Turning serious, Thompson, as with any other player, said it’s injury.
“Pinakakinatatakutan ko injury, sana maging healthy lang, 'yun lang talaga. Achievements, awards, bonus na lang,” he said during the event where he received the award for pro basketball.
At 29, the Davao del Sur native has had a great deal of success in the PBA. He’s won several championships plus a season and Finals MVP.
Asked if this could be the peak of his career, Thompson responded with optimism.
“Sana. Tuluy-tuloy lang. Sobrang blessed lang, sunud-sunod 'yung mga awards, achievements na dumarating sa buhay ko,” he said.
“Alam natin na sobrang early pa sa career ko. Prayer ko lang maging healthy throughout sa career.”
