Payton Pritchard and Jaylen Brown combined for 59 points, powering the Celtics to a dramatic double-overtime win over the Nets to regain their winning ways.
Payton Pritchard and Jaylen Brown took over late as the Boston Celtics survived a nail-biting 130-126 double-overtime win over the pesky Brooklyn Nets on Saturday, January 24 (PH time).
Pritchard erupted for 32 points, including six triples, while Brown notched a triple-double with 27 points, 12 assists, and 10 rebounds in a back-and-forth duel that featured 13 ties and 22 lead changes.
The Nets forced the first overtime after Nic Claxton cleaned up a Michael Porter Jr. miss with a putback slam to tie the game at 104.
Boston, though, refused to fold.
With the Celtics trailing 115-118, Hugo Gonzales drained a corner triple with 0.4 seconds left to push the contest into a second overtime.
In the extra period, Pritchard hit a clutch basket to give Boston a 130-126 lead, and the Celtics held on to hand Brooklyn their fourth consecutive loss.
The victory improved Boston’s record to 28-16 as they prepare to host the Portland Trail Blazers (23-22) aiming for back-to-back wins.
For the Nets, Michael Porter Jr. paced the team with 30 points, Nolan Traore added a career-high 21, and Claxton contributed 18.
But Brooklyn squandered an early 11-point advantage and fell to 12-30, setting up a matchup against the LA Clippers next.
