Tyrese Maxey made sure teammate Paul George had a winning Sixers season debut.

Maxey exploded for 39 points as Philadelphia overcame a double-digit fourth quarter deficit to deny the visiting LA Clippers, 110-108, for a bounce-back win on Tuesday, November 18 (PH time).

The 25-year-old took over in the second half, dropping 24 markers in the final frame en route to his eight 30-point game of the season – third most behind reigning MVP Shai Gilgeous-Alexander (12) and Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo.

In the game’s final sequence, with the Sixers clinging to a narrow 110-108 lead, the Clippers had two opportunities to steal the win.

James Harden had a chance to silence the Philadelphia crowd, but his three-point attempts both missed the mark, and the Sixers held on for the win in a tense finish.

George finished with nine points, seven rebounds, and three assists in his first game in eight months as Quentin Grimes chipped 19, and Andre Drummond logged a solid 14-point, 18-rebound double-double.

Philly now improved to 8-5 and a share of fifth in the East with the Toronto Raptors.

Meanwhile, Harden paced the Clippers with 28 markers on the night he became just the 11th player to eclipse 28,000 career points.

Playing on the second game of back-to-back, LA got outscored 25-37 in the final frame to drop to 4-10.

LA continues its road trip againmst the Magic (7-7) in Orlando while Philadelphia hosts the surging Raptors next.
