There was only one arc the last time Mikey Williams stepped on a PBA floor.

It wasn’t the same when he returned nearly three years later as a Coverge FiberXer.

Since his last conquest with TNT, the PBA had introduced the four-point line, an innovation which some teams take advantage of especially in the dying moments of the game.

Asked about his thoughts on the league’s innovation, the sweet-shooting Williams beamed with excitement and intrigue.

“It's a great addition, and it's going to be interesting to use when I get the chance to,” said Williams, who was fielded in only in the fourth period of Converge’s 102-94 win over Macau in the PBA Season 50 Commissioner’s Cup.

In 12 minutes of action, Williams made one attempt from the second arc.

He wound up scoreless, finishing with two rebounds, three assists, and a steal but it didn’t dampen his spirit one bit.

“I love the four-point shot. I'm shooting it every day in practice, taking the time to put the work in with the four-pointer,” he said.

Now Williams is looking forward to regaining his old self and adding the four-pointer into his already lethal arsenal.

“It felt good. I missed the game. I missed being out here, playing in front of the fans that we have and just overall, the basketball culture, I missed that,” he said.

The two-time champion and Finals MVP was just glad to be back.

“But more importantly, I missed the camaraderie with the team and being around teammate,” he said.

“It's something new that we're building here, just glad to be a part of it. And I thank Gov Archen and Gov Delta, Boss Dennis as well, for taking a chance on me.”

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone.

He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
