Filipina tennis star Alex Eala is on the verge of breaking into the world's top 50 after reaching a new career-high of no. 51 in the latest WTA rankings.
Alex Eala achieved another personal milestone after climbing to a career-high no. 51 in the latest WTA rankings released Monday, Oct. 27.
The Filipina tennis star is up two spots from her previous best of no. 53, putting her closer than ever to breaking into the world’s top 50.

Her recent steady bump in rankings have come despite a string of tough losses, the latest being an early exit at the Guangzhou Open where she bowed to American Claire Liu, 6-2, 4-6, 4-6.

Eala had better success in doubles play at Guangzhou, teaming up with Ukrainian partner Nadiia Kichenok to reach the semis, just bowing to Indonesia’s Janice Tjen and Poland’s Katarzyna Piter, 7-6 (4), 3-6, 5-10.
Eala now looks to close out her breakthrough 2025 season strong as she competes in the WTA 250 Hong Kong Open.
She is set to face world no. 63 Katie Boulter of Great Britain in the Round of 32 on Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 10:00 a.m.
Before that, the 20-year-old Filipina star will team up with Taiwanese partner Chan Hao-Ching in doubles action against the Russian-Belarusian pair of Kamilla Rakhimova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich later today at 4:20 p.m.
