Rain or shine, over 11, 000 women of all ages ran side by side at the Women’s Run PH at UP Diliman, celebrating courage and solidarity.
Rain poured over UP Diliman last Sunday, but that didn’t stop thousands of women from turning out for the Women’s Run PH 2025.

Among them were runners whose stories went beyond personal bests and finish lines — women like Dr. Irene Putiz, her daughter Dr. Aira, and Mycha Ong, who reminded everyone what Lactacyd Women’s Run PH 2025 is really about: strength, courage, and connection.
For Dr. Irene and her daughter Aira, the day was a first in more ways than one.
Mother and daughter ran side by side under the rain, navigating slippery paths and puddles, but their spirits never faltered.
“Binrave talaga namin ‘yung ulan,” Aira said with a laugh. “First time namin tumakbo nang umuulan.”
Dr. Irene, a cancer survivor, shared how running with her daughter reminded her of the strength that comes from both health and family.
“I eat the right food, I am conscious of my health, I do treadmill,” she said.
“I feel inspired. Idol ko ‘yong anak ko,” she added.
For some, it was about empowerment.
For others, it was about connection — with themselves, with family, or with someone cheering them on at the finish line.
Just like Mycha Ong, who had one thought that kept her moving in spite of the heavy rain: her boyfriend waiting at the finish line.
“First time kong tumakbo nang umuulan, may thrill naman,” said Mycha.
“Nakakapagod, pero iniisip ko na lang na nando’n siya sa finish line, naghihintay para sa akin,” she said.
Her boyfriend, Renz Baniqued, emphasized the importance of being there for her.
“Bagong experience sa kaniya tapos umuulan kaya support na lang din ako sa running era,” he said.
Beyond these personal stories, the race itself celebrated Filipina endurance and wellness.
Mea Gey Adialiaan Niñura topped the 10K in 43 minutes and 54 seconds, followed by Analyn Simon (48:27) and Maria Rosy Zepeda (49:23).
In the 5K, Jo Punay led in 21:20, with Louela Marie Goneo (22:10) and Criselda Del Rosario (22:57) rounding out the podium.
Marxia Louis Ibarra finished first in the 1K dash in 5:56, just ahead of Jeanne Charlize Ong and Gianna Olivia Sonza (5:59).

Organized by RUNRIO with Lactacyd as title sponsor and co-presented by Anlene, the event also partnered with the PGH Cancer Survivors’ Organization in celebration of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
With the UP Academic Oval alive with cheering, laughter, and determination, the race was more than a competition.
It was a celebration of resilience, love, and the quiet power of support — showing that whether it’s family, friends, or a loved one at the finish line, every step is stronger when you run together.
The Women’s Run PH heads to Davao this January, ready to inspire, empower, and celebrate women across the country.
