Sports and culture mix in Jordan Clarkson’s persona, being among the most stylish NBA players in the league right now.
Filipino-American guard Jordan Clarkson’s move to the New York Knicks feels like kismet, not just for basketball, but also for the culture.
Among more fashionable and stylish NBA players, Clarkson’s new city was more than welcoming to his unique sense of clothing. An area bursting with art and culture, his signing with the Knicks became more than just talk for the sports fans.
The 33-year-old landed in a recent photoshoot with
Vogue, as the famed fashion magazine harped on Clarkson’s love for expressing himself through his clothing.
“Our staff was in agreement: Clarkson’s move to New York wasn’t just sports news; it was fashion news,” their piece said.
With pregame outfits and sneaker culture becoming part and parcel with basketball, Clarkson takes it a step further with a specific focus on his lifestyle — often being seen in high-fashion pieces, and now being in a new city, he didn’t waste time in immersing himself in the culture through clothes.
The magazine’s shoot accents this, giving Clarkson multiple pieces that the NBA guard was more than eager to flaunt himself just like he does on the basketball court.
More than just clothes, Vogue’s feature also spoke about the Fil-Am player’s hairstyle and body inks, with Clarkson also sharing some inspirations behind his tattoos.
Being more of an introvert, Clarkson said that his tattoos helped him speak when he couldn’t.
“I don’t really talk much, so I feel like when people see my tattoos, they’re reading my story on my body,” Clarkson said to Vogue.
Clarkson will hope to translate his swag from the streets of New York to the basketball court as well, especially as the Knicks open the NBA regular season in a beat — playing against the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday (Thursday, Manila time).
Clarkson is entering his 11th season in the NBA and will be playing for his fourth team in the league.
