The seas of adventure have reached Manila as Coach Rio de la Cruz, founder and CEO of Runrio, unveiled the maiden One Piece Run in the Philippines, happening on September 28 at SM City Fairview.
More than a themed race, the event brings anime fans and runners together for a one-of-a-kind experience blending fitness, fandom, and fun.

Runrio General Manager Andrew Neri highlighted how the run opens new doors for fans to embrace healthier, more active lifestyles.
“We are very excited because parang na-introduce ang running into the cosplayers. Those manga fans started with other brands this year. And then this is the second of many. We have many more happenings so we’re excited because this will encourage our cosplayers and those who are fans of manga to really get into a physical active lifestyle.”
The event’s first wave has already captured the spirit of community among One Piece lovers. Participants shared how running alongside fellow fans added value to their passion.
“Interaction with other fans, saka other cosplayers na rin. Parang we feel valued. There’s something for us to look forward,” said Jam Vasquez.
“Being in a community po na maraming nanonood ng One Piece, masaya po,” added Ray, pointing out how the run feels like a gathering of nakamas.
“It’s a healthy way of getting exercise and going out. As a fan of both the anime and the manga, we don’t just stay on our mobile devices. We also get out and exercise as well,” shared Claude.
By merging cosplay, camaraderie, and cardio, the One Piece Run PH goes beyond just a race—it becomes an entry point for anime fans to live the adventurous and active spirit of the Straw Hat crew in real life.
