Alex Eala cruised into the semifinals of the 2025 Eastbourne Open with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 win over world no. 42 Dayana Yastremska.
Filipina tennis star Alex Eala will make her way to the semifinals of the 2025 Eastbourne Open after knocking out Ukraine’s Dayana Yastremska, 6-1, 6-2, on Thursday, June 26.
Contrary to her previous starts, Eala dominated the opening frame against the world no. 42, who came off a Finals appearance in the Nottingham Open last week.
Eala continued to show her brilliance on grass as she distanced herself early from Yastremska with a 3-0 start in the second frame.
Yastremska tried her best to counter Eala’s powerful returns. However, this went naught as the Filipina tennis star proved to be too much to handle.
Leading 4-2, the 20-year-old Eala closed out the match with back-to-back set victories to head to the semifinals.
Up next for Eala will be world no. 111 Varvara Gracheva of France, who had a walkover victory against Barbora Krejcíková.
The semifinals is scheduled tomorrow, June 27.
