The Lady Warriors are hoping to bounce back from their 1-13 record in Season 84.
The UE Lady Warriors will have a lot to look forward to this coming UAAP Season 85 women’s volleyball tournament.
For one, they are looking to bounce back from their 1-13 record in Season 84. They are also bringing in new, young faces—whom outside hitter Dara Nieva has already anointed as important members of the team.
“Of course, may mga super rookies kami and I think mas explosive, mas mahaba 'yung preparation, so I guess may mas mailalabas pa this coming season,” said Nieva. “Dapat abangan 'yung mga super rookies namin.”
She was talking about KC Cepada, Van Bangayan, and Erin Navarro, who were impressive for UE during the 2022 Shakey's Super League Collegiate Pre-Season Tournament.
The Lady Warriors impressed in that competition, finishing third in Group A behind the UP Fighting Maroons and the Perpetual Lady Altas with a 2-2 record.
While they weren’t able to move on to the knockout phase of the tournament, seeing the team grow and intact was a huge plus for Nieva.
“Good thing 'yun kasi intact na 'yung team, may nadagdag pa na more power kaya sa tingin ko mas okay [kami] this year,” said Nieva. “This season, mas gagalingan namin, mas bibigay namin lahat, and hindi na kami katulad nung dati.”
