The UST Golden Tigresses started strong and never looked back as they demolished the UE Lady Warriors in UAAP Season 88 women's volleyball.
The UST Golden Tigresses felt quite at home on their own court, beating the UE Lady Warriors, 25-11, 25-14, 25-14, for their second straight victory in UAAP Season 88 at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion on Saturday, February 28.
UST zoomed to a strong start to take the victory, keeping UE skidding.
In the first set, the Golden Tigresses were ahead, 8-0, after an attack from Angge Poyos.
The Tigresses completely set the pace with their dominant opening set, limiting the Lady Warriors to just four attack points.
UST also had five blocks in that first stretch, with the fit-again Jonna Perdido and Marga Altea stepping up to the plate.
Perdido fired five points in the first stanza, while Altea tallied back-to-back attacks in the tail-end of the set to claim the win, 25-11.
The second set was more of the same story, with the Golden Tigresses firing on all cylinders.
After a Khy Cepada attack capped a 7-1 UE run to get to within two, 9-11, errors ultimately robbed the Lady Warriors of any momentum to stage an upset.
With the win, the Golden Tigresses negate their poor start and are now 2-2 for the season.
Meanwhile, UE is 0-4 and is on an 18-game losing skid dating back to last year.
