Snapping a three-game skid against Adamson, the NU Bulldogs regained their winning form while adding to the woes of the slumping Soaring Falcons in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament.
Call them the comeback dogs.
The NU Bulldogs overcame an 11-point fourth quarter deficit to outlast the Adamson Soaring Falcons, 56-54, regaining their winning ways in the in the UAAP Season 88 men’s basketball tournament, Wednesday, Oct. 8 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
Jake Figueroa, who finished the game with a team-high 17 points, converted a clutch three-point play that gave the Bulldogs a 55-44 lead with under a minute left.
After a NU miss, Adamson had a chance to snatch the win in the next possession but Matt Erolon overshot the attempt.
Anthony Fransman collected the loose ball but he got stripped by Figeuroa in his drive attempt as the Bulldogs ended the game on a 15-2 run to seal the win.
With the bounce-back dub, NU claimed solo second at 4-1 while the Soaring Falcons dropped to 1-4 and remained seventh.
Looking ahead, NU aims for back-to-back wins as the Bulldogs tangle with the DLSU Green Archers (3-1) on Sunday, Oct. 12, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.
Over at the Blue Eagle Gym on Saturday, Oct. 11, the Soaring Falcons look to halt their skid when they face the win-hungry UE Red Warriors in a weekend clash.
