CANDON CITY, ILOCOS SUR--The Rookie/Sophomores vs Juniors game just got interesting. PBA legends will join the youngsters in the said side event of the PBA All-Star festivities here. Former PBA MVPs Willie Miller and Arwind Santos reinforce the Rookies/Sophomores, while Gilas heroes Ranidel de Ocampo and Marc Pingris make up the Juniors squad.

Miller, now a Converge assistant coach, couldn’t hep but feel excited to share the court with the young stars.

“Nangyari na sa’min to dati, may nakasama na legends nung naglalaro kami,” said after the press conference Thursday, March 5. “Ngayon kami na pinakamatanda. Kami na maga-guide sa mga bata. Parang assistant coaches na lang kami sa loob ng game.”

RDO, whose jersey No. 33 was recently retired by TNT, couldn’t agree more. But make no mistake about it. While they are here to help entertain fans and spice things up, the stretch forward said they are still as competitive as they were when they were younger.

“Pero kahit ganun, excited pa rin kami. Basketball di mawaawala samin yan. Ito, para sa PBA ‘to kaya ginagawa namin,” he said.

The RSJ fires off on Friday, March 6, 7 pm at the Candon City Arena.

Like most sportswriters, Jan Ballesteros once dreamed of becoming a professional hooper. But he learned the hard way that it’s not for everyone. He continues to be involved in the sport he loves, but this time as a member of the PBA Press Corps. Aside from primarily covering the PBA, he is also assigned to cover Gilas Pilipinas.
