The hunt for a breakthrough in UAAP Season 88 continues for UE. This time, the Red Warriors face the UST Growling Tigers to open the men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, October 5, at the UST Quadricentennial Pavilion.

Tip-off is at 1:30 p.m.

UE is coming off a third straight defeat following a 92-75 loss to the defending champions UP Fighting Maroons in their last outing.

It marked the Red Warriors’ ninth consecutive loss dating back to Season 87, and their 0-3 start is now their worst opening to a UAAP men’s basketball campaign since going winless in Season 84.

Nigerian center Precious Momowei posted 18 points, 10 rebounds, five assists, and four blocks in a losing effort, while Wello Linglingo also chipped in 18 markers.

Team captain John Abate added 15 points, six assists, and four steals, but UE remains one of only two teams this season — along with the FEU Tamaraws — still searching for their first win.

Against UST, can the Red Warriors finally barge into the win column?
