A big sigh of relief came for Adamson University after coming away with a five-set victory over the University of the Philippines, 25-17, 23-25, 20-25, 25-23, 15-13, in the UAAP Season 86 women's volleyball tournament at the Ninoy Aquino Memorial Stadium in Malate on Saturday, April 13.

As the Lady Falcons celebrated their third win in the season, libero Karen Verdeflor couldn't help but get emotional while singing the school's alma mater.

Verdeflor, who finished with 25 excellent digs in the win, bared why tears ran down her cheeks after the match.

"Sobrang saya lang kasi sunod-sunod 'yung talo, masakit para sa amin. So itong panalo, emotional lang kami lalo 'yung mga senior," Verdeflor said during the post-game press conference.

But it wasn't just Verdeflor.

Graduating senior Mayang Nuique, who had 15 points in the win, also admitted getting emotional in their win, which ended a six-game losing skid.

"Galing kami sa pagkatalo so ang laking bagay nung larong ito para sa susunod na games namin," said Nuique.

While Adamson's Final Four hopes are still alive, the Lady Falcons' fate is no longer in their hands as they will have to not only sweep the remaining games but also hope for the Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws (6-4) to lose all of their games.

That's why Niuque shared coach JP Yude's reminders to the team in their final matches.

"As you know, parang wala na kaming chance mag-Final Four so ang paalala lang sa amin ni coach is give our best talaga para maganda 'yung kinalabasan or exit ng UAAP season namin," said Niuque.

The Lady Falcons will look to build on their five-set victory as they face De La Salle University on Wednesday, April 17 at the Smart Araneta Coliseum at 2:00 p.m.
