UAAP: FEU fights off UST to stay undefeated; Adamson sweeps UE in men

The FEU Tamaraws remain undefeated in the UAAP Season 86 men's volleyball tournament after fending off the UST Golden Spikers in five sets, 28-26, 21-25, 21-25, 25-21, 15-13, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay on Sunday, March 3.

In a battle of title-contending teams, it was FEU that came out on top as the two teams exchanged blows throughout the match.

In the fifth set, the Tamaraws started off strong, building a 7-4 lead but was immediately erased by the Golden Spikers.

Tied at 11-all, FEU scored two straight points after a service error by Joshua Ybanez and an emphatic attack by JayJay Javelona.

Martin Bugaoan and Dryx Saavedra sealed the win for the Tamaraws after two more attack points.

Rookie Andrei Delicana and Javelona led the charge for FEU with 18 points apiece as they move to 4-0 in the standings.

Josh Ybanez, meanwhile, had a game-high 30 points but UST dropped its second game in a row for a 2-2 mark.

The Adamson Soaring Falcons, meanwhile, are back in the win column after sweeping the UE Red Warriors, 25-16, 25-20, 25-23,

After being dominated in the first and second set, the Red Warriors were able to keep the game close in the third set, even tying the game at 23-all.

Adamson, however, came in the clutch after a quick attack by Jude Aguilar and a kill block by the Falcons to seal their second win in Season 86.

Aguilar and Francis Casas led the way for ADU with 14 points built on 10 attacks and four blocks.

Joshua Pozas, meanwhile, was the lone double-digit scorer for UE as the Recto-based squad remains winless with a 0-4 record.
