Adamson eyeing adjustments in competing against top contenders

The Adamson Lady Falcons made quick work of the UP Fighting Maroons on Wednesday to end the first round of Season 85 on a positive note, 25-18, 25-17, 25-23.

Kate Santiago led the way for Adamson, scoring 16 points on 12 attacks, 3 blocks, and a service ace.

The win puts the Lady Falcons in a tie for third in the standings along with the University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses. They both sport a 5-2 record.

“After the first round, we did our job. We were able to get the games that we needed to win. I think our placing is okay,” said coach Jerry Yee.

Yee, however, pointed out that they still need to make necessary adjustments, especially since their first Round 2 match will be against the De La Salle University Lady Spikers.

The Lady Spikers showed off their experience in their four-set win against the Lady Falcons last Sunday.

“Sana sa mga tight games, we could have done better. 'Yun 'yung gusto namin sana. We faltered sa La Salle,” said Yee. “Next game namin La Salle na agad, so hopefully may changes kaming ma-apply that would work for the team.”

Yee also lauded the team’s offensive prowess, but pointed out that this needs to be shown against the top teams in the competition.

“Mataas 'yung hitting percentage nung spikers natin because may first ball tayo and then magandang test nga 'yun kapag sa NU [Lady Bulldogs], sa La Salle, if maa-apply pa natin,” said Yee. “So far, kulang pa talaga eh, so 'yun 'yung hinahabol natin.”
