Newly activated Ginebra Gin King Jayson David celebrates his mom, Lyla, as Mother's Day draws near.
Playing in the PBA, Jayson David, who is from Pampanga, needs to stay in the metro and be away from his mother and the rest of his family as he lives his basketball dream.
The newly activated Gin King thus relishes the moments when he could sit in their kitchen to share stories with his mom as she cooks food for them.
David, a self-confessed mama's boy, shares more with One Sports about the special woman in his life in time for Mother's Day.
One Sports: What’s your mom’s name? How old is she?
Jayson David: Lyla David. Age ng mommy ko? Nakalimutan ko. 56 na, 57? (laughs)
OS: Are you close to your mom? Please describe your relationship.
David: Super close kami ng mom ko. Pwede kong masabi na mama’s boy ako. Kasi everyday, tinatawagan ko siya. Taga-Pampanga kami. Magkalayo kami ni Mama. Simula 15 years old, nasa Manila na ako. Everyday, tumatawag ako.

OS: What are your favorite bonding moments with her?
David: Tuwing nasa bahay ako tapos nagluluto siya, tatambay ako sa kusina. Magkukuwentuhan lang kami ng kung anu-anong nangyayaring mga bagay.
OS: Does she always cook for you?
David: Siya ang nagluluto. Dati, hindi ako kumakain ng ibang pagkain bukod sa luto niya.
OS: What’s that one dish you love your mom cooking for you?
David: 'Yong bulanglang ng Mama ko. Ano 'yon, parang sinigang pero 'yong sahog ay bayabas.
OS: What are your favorite memories of her so far?
David: Marami, eh. 'Yong na-draft ako [sa PBA]. Nakita ko, sobrang saya ng Mama ko. Emotional siya, so umiyak siya.

David: I love you, Mom, because you did everything for us. Ginagawa mo ang lahat makakain lang kami. Pinagkakasya mo ang budget natin dati.
